Joel Kotkin
An internationally-recognized authority on global, economic, political and social trends, Joel Kotkin is the author of the newly published, critically acclaimed The City: A Global History from Modern Library. He is also author of the widely acclaimed, best-selling book, The New Geography: How the Digital Revolution is Reshaping the American Landscape (Random House, 2000). Kotkin is an Irvine Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation and is a highly respected speaker and futurist. He consults for many leading economic development organizations, private companies, regions and cities. In addition, Kotkin serves as senior advisor to the Planning Center, a major planning, design and environmental consulting firm based in Costa Mesa, California.

Bill Strickland
Bill Strickland is the President and CEO of Manchester Craftsmen's Guild and Bidwell Training Center, Inc., both founded in 1968. He has served as Chairman of the Expansion Arts Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in Washington, D.C. and served a six-year Presidential appointment as a Council Member to the NEA. He was also a Council Member on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Pennsylvania State Board of Education, a trustee at the Carnegie, and a Consultant with the British/American Arts Association in London, England. Strickland has served as a lecturer in the arts and arts education, community development and social enterprise at the Kellogg School of Business, Harvard Business School, Harvard School of Education and Stanford Business School. He has also served as a consultant to the British/American Arts Association, London, United Kingdom. Throughout his distinguished career, Strickland has been honored with numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to the arts and the community, including receiving the MacArthur "Genius" Award for leadership and ingenuity in the arts in 1996.

Ruth G. Shaw
Ruth G. Shaw is the Group Executive of Public Policy and President of Duke Nuclear for Duke Energy. She provides executive leadership for nuclear strategy and operations, sustainability, environmental policy and other public policy issues. She was named to her current position in April 2006. Shaw is a member of the board of directors and the Executive Committee of the Nuclear Energy Institute, and a member of the board of directors of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. A long-time civic leader, Shaw is past board chair and campaign chair for both the United Way of Central Carolinas and the Arts and Science Council. She currently serves as a trustee for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a member and immediate past chair of the Foundation For The Carolinas board. She is also on the board of visitors at the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences.
