In the wake of Katrina, more and more issues surrounding equity in inner cities are coming to light in the media, and it is becoming apparent that cities still have a long way to go towards utopia in the creative economy. Residents need access to basic services, skills, and opportunities to begin reducing the gap that grows increasingly wider. Strickland will discuss the role of visionary leadership and how his center for the arts fosters a sense of accomplishment and hope in the urban community.
